Objective

The Mobile Networking Lab has developed a gateway and new protocols to connect mobile hosts (in a cellular environment) to the internet (see our three-level architecture). Specifically:

Developed mobile versions of Internet transport protocols. We have developed the following protocols, M-UDP, M-TCP and M-RTP.

Developed a mobile gateway that we call MING (or Supervisor Hosts - a term used in many of our earlier papers).

Developed transport layer support for QoS (Quality of Service) for multimedia data. Our approach is to use Loss Profiles, a new measure of QoS.
