Academic Background
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India in 1984. I received my PhD in 1990 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where my advisor was Prof. Jim Kurose. . I am currently a professor at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

My primary research is in the areas of very high-speed wireless networks with particular focus on Terahertz networking. The goal is to deliver terabits/sec data rates to users using the enormous available spectrum. The second major research area is the study of energy consumption in networks ranging from data center networks to enterprise networks. As part of this work we are developing novel router architectures as well as Internet subnet topologies that scale power usage linearly with load.
