Geotechnical Facilities

engineering

The most exciting development for Civil and Environmental Engineering is the move to the new Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science Building. The geotechnical program has one of the largest labs to accommodate undergraduate teaching needs. The soil mechanics lab, Room 270, has a dedicated 2000 sq. ft. room, housing all of the undergraduate soil mechanics' needs.

The Graduate Geotechnical Design Lab, Room 260, offers 1000 sq. ft. for a combined seminar, teaching, research, and geotech library, including a geotechnical dedicated p.c. computer lab. Linking both the undergraduate and graduate areas is the specialty insitu testing area, Room 265. Housed in the 350 sq.ft. room is the insitu testing equipment, including PSU's 4 pressuremeters and 2 control units, placing the program in an elite group. This equipment is used routinely in the curriculum and research.
