The Mechanical Engineering Lab Team, MELT, are Mechanical Engineering students who have sufficient training in manufacturing processes that they are allowed to instruct and supervise other students.
Currently MELT technicians have experience with these tools
- Manual milling machines and lathes
- Haas CNC milling machine and Haas CNC lathe
- Nomad 833 desktop CNC mill
- U-Print 3D printer
- Ultimaker 3D printer
- 60W Universal Laser Systems laser cutter
MELT students are supervised by Mike Chuning and MME faculty. When they have sufficient training and professionalism, MELT students are hired as tutors to assist students and perform manufacturing and assembly tasks for faculty.
