Units of Study. In Winter term we will be doing 5 units.
1) Collapse. 2) Katrina. 3) Sustainable Design. 4) Robots. 5) Mini portfolio.

Grading. The products you will produce, and be graded on are:
1) A group presentation, 2) A debate, 3) A term paper, 4) A Robot project, 5 An on-line mini portfolio. We'll also have almost weekly reading assignments and reading comprehension activities (quizzes, work-sheets, discussions) and several short (1-2 page) writing assignments. Course grade will be based roughly on the following, however changes to assignments may change this somewhat.

• 25% Class participation, including
  1. Attendance (7%)
  2. Reading Comprehension Activities (quizzes, work-sheets, etc) (6%)
  3. Class Preparation activities (reading notes, 1st drafts, products for peer review, etc) (6%)
  4. Class Participation in Discussion and in Mentor Sessions (6%)
• 75% Assignments and Projects including, but not limited to:
  1. Group Presentation (15%)
  2. Team Debate (15%)
  3. Term Paper (15%)
  4. Robot Project(15%)
  5. Mini Portfolio (15%)
