In this activity each of the Collapse groups will pick one of the 9 sections of chapter 1 below.

1. Montana's Economic History. pg. 27-mid 35
2. Mining. pg. 35-top 41
3. Forests. pg. 41-top 47
4. Soil. pg. 47-49
5. Water pg. 49-53
6. Native & Non-native. pg. 53-56
7. Differing Visions. pg. 56-lower 63
8. Attitudes towards regulation. pg. 63-65
9. 4 Stories. pg. 66-72

The group will discus the section, and then create and give a report to the rest of the class. Each report will have the following parts

• A part that identifies the important messages (or key ideas) of that section.
• A "Visual" that illustrates the key ideas (poster paper and markers provided). (Be sure each team members name appears on the visual).
• A short presentation about the main points.
• Answers questions from Tim, Liz and the Class about your section.
