- Postpone and withhold your judgment of ideas
- Encourage wild and exaggerated ideas
- Quantity counts at this stage, not quality
- Build on the ideas put forward by others
- Every person and every idea has equal worth

Process for Brain Storming
- One person is the facilitator. She writes ideas on the whiteboard.
- Participants call out new ideas
- The facilitator writes down the ideas, she may not censor or alter ideas, only record them.
- When the flow of new ideas ends, the group as a whole organizes the ideas.
- This is the time for discussion
- Several ideas my be the same, only in different words
- Ideas may be grouped
