The master archie server creates a list of ftp sites which archie servers should index. This file is called the site list, and is stored in the following file: INSTALLDIR/ftplist/sitelist
The file consists of one line for each anonymous ftp site to be indexed. Each line has the following format:
domainname IP address
Each line (including the last line) is terminated with a newline. The file is maintained in alphabetical order (by domain name) by the site list builder on the master archie server, but this is not necessary for archie servers (so local archie server administrators can edit them without worrying about the order).
Here is an example of the first five lines of a site list file:
a.cs.uiuc.edu 128.174.252.1 ab20.larc.nasa.gov 128.155.23.64 ads.com 128.229.30.16 albanycs.albany.edu 128.204.1.4 ames.arc.nasa.gov 128.102.18.3
The ip addresses do not need to be lined up, but there does need to be some whitespace between the ip address and the domain name.
