Attaching the Pump Bracket to the Upright
The pump bracket holds the pump and fish tank to the platform.
This web page describes how to attach the pump bracket to the upright. The entire assembly of the platform is divided into the following steps.
The objective of this step is to attach the metal L-bracket to the side of 2x4 upright as shown in the following photograph.
Locate the bracket and drill pilot holes
The bottom of the bracket is 7.5 inches from the bottom of the platform, i.e. 7.5 inches from the table surface.
Drill pilot holes in the upright and start the wood screws that hold the bracket to the upright.
Make sure the bracket is square to the upright before final tightening of the wood screws. You only need two wood screws, so if the bracket is crooked, mark and drill another hole to correct the alignment.
