Set Up Logins
Create logins for the class:
-
As a group you should agree on a convention for setting up accounts
on your machine (i.e. where home directories are, default startup
files) and document it.
It needn't be elaborate, but it must be documented
(and in your system notebooks).
-
Any accounts which existed before you had root should be converted
to conform to this policy. Notify those users beforehand.
(This portion will be graded as part of the group project).
-
Make an account for yourself (You have probably already done this).
If it was not made according to your account policy (i.e. wrong
filesystem), modify it so that it conforms.
-
I will post a list of the login names of everyone in the class.
Split this list evenly among your group. Each member should then
set up accounts for those people. Get the password and such
info from Rigel's password file.
Turn in:
- Your group's account creation convention document.
- Your password line on your machine.
- The password entries of the accounts you created.
- The output of
ls -agl
for one
of the home directories you created.
All this should be mailed (in one message)
to blajmi
with a subject of Assignment 2
(or something similar).
To help you, here is an
example of what someone turned
(and got a good grade)
