Earl Holman moved to Montana in 1913 with his parents and sister, Ruth. He helped his parents farm a 40 acra farm six miles north of Roundup. Here he met Laura Madsen who was from Roundup.
When a section of homestead land became available, he and his father split the section and each farmed one half section.
After moving to Spokane, Washington, he worked in a sawmill.
