Sample mean (average)
- each observation does not have the same influence
- significantly affected by extreme values (outliers)
Sample mode
- Most frequently occurring observation
- requires grouping data and depends on the grouping
Geometric mean
- Mean of logs, transformed back to original units
- Good measure for positively skewed data
- Often close to the median value
