Probability plots

• Plot of data, X, vs. a function of the non-exceedance probability, K(P)

Non-exceedance probability:

P = 1 - Pr [ X ? x ]

• K(P) assumes a particular underlying distribution

• If the data “fit” the selected distribution, the probability plot will be a straight line
