Hash Functions
•When two or more items are mapped to the same index after
• using a hash
function, a collision occurs. For example, what
if our two employee id #s were: 123445678 and
123445779
–...using the % operator, with a table of size 101...both
of these map to index 44.
–This means that after we have inserted the first id# at index 44, we can't insert the second id # at index 44 also!
