We spent the first 10 days in Spain on a kayaking "vacation"
where we kayaked from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and
from Europe to Africa. Click

for some pictures. The rest of the month was spent in Oslo
working, skiing and entertaining visitors. My sister, Helena
and her daughter, Bethany, came to visit, and so did my friend
Joel. Joel dragged me out skiing even more than I am used to,
and thats saying something!

- We went to the Holmenkollen to watch a World Cup Biathlon event.
The reigning olympic champion and local favorite, Ole Einer Bjorndalen,
put on an incredible show of force. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a
good shot of him.

- During their brief visit, Helena and Bethany learned to ski.

- We have got into the habit of skiing to our local train station in Kjelsas,
taking a train to Stryken in the North of the Nordmarka, and then skiing all
the way home. The ski trip is about 50km through beautiful forested hills and
valleys and over several large frozen lakes. We usually stop for lunch at the
Kikutstua Hytta half way. The whole day is a fabulous experience. Its beyond
belief how many people ski here. The first few shots from the station are
of a typical crowd waiting to catch a train - not a special ski train, just
a normal train. I don't think there was anyone without skis!
