A very complete and popular worldwide suite of geotechnical and foundation engineering programs is available from www.oasys-software.com . These include slope stability, tunneling, induced stress, deep foundation design and retaining walls.

The Federal Highway Administration has built a significant web presence. About 1/3 can be downloaded as .pdf file.

GeotechLinks This is where you can find free links to online books, manuals, papers, thesis reports, etc. in the geotechnical engineering field. There are over 1200 links in GeotechLinks and is being updated regularly.

The Oregon DOT Manual has been recently up-dated from April 2010 and includes project planning, exploration and environmental concerns.

The Washington State DOT Geotechnical Design Manual (GDM) is now available to the public as an on-line manual. The GDM is a completely new manual. This manual provides geotechnical site characterization, exploration, and design policy, and covers aspects of the geotechnical design such as foundation and wall design, cut and fill design, rockslope design, unstable slope mitigation, seismic design, and design of signals, sign bridge, and other small structure foundations. This manual also provides standards for reporting and design documentation, including baseline reports for design-build projects. This manual builds on Design Manual M22-01 Chapter 510. The manual can also be accessed at the WSDOT Geotechnical Division Home Page.

Similar to WSDOT, an on-line field manual is available from Alaska. Excellent for CE 442/CE 542.

A number of downloadable's are available from CALTRANS including Soil Nail software, preparation of Foundation Investigation and Soil Reports, logs of test borings, etc.

The University of Syndey has a Software Center, called SUGAR, where a full suite of programs is avaible. Two finite element program, AFENA, and the seepage program FESEEP, as well as a slope stability program, are student versions, which can be downloaded FREE.
