GNU Hurd Activity at PSU

Last update: 8-Mar-95

Here in Portland, there is a group of ~6 people trying to get the Hurd running. We meet every Wednesday at 5:30pm in the MSB lab at PSU. Feel free to drop by if you're in the area and want to help.

It boots! On March 2nd, Erich got it running. It pops up unto a single-user shell and we could do some commands (those that were in the image). We can cross-compile Mach 4, but we are still using the binary image file made available on alpha.gnu.ai.mit.edu (although we had to hack it to use devices named 'hd' instead of 'sd'). I will try to put an archive of our e-mail exchanges, which may be enlightening to others trying this same thing. Erich Boleyn has done a lion's share of the work thus far.

To help others get this far, we have written out some instructions and made a binary image available. Caveat emptor!
