The class is a lecture class and I will hand out reading material consisting of papers as well as other written matter. There are two exams and six written assignments. The students should have taken a networking class and should be able to follow probability derivations.

The topics we will cover include: MAC protocols such as Aloha, CSMA/CA, CSMA/CD for single-hop networks with derivations of their performance; CDMA; MAC protocols for multi-hop networks including; Standards including 802.11b and WiMAX; Directional antennas and MAC design for these systems; MIMO and smart antenna systems;
