"Teacher Resigns" in-class activity
This is an in-class group activity.
- Break into groups of 4 people. Work with at least one person
you have not worked with before.
- Read the short article handed out in class titled
Teacher resigns over plagiarism fight
- Make a list of groups of people
directly involved in the actions discussed. For each group, place each group
in one of Kohlberg's three levels of moral development. Write down
one piece of evidence you found in the reading (or implied by the reading)
that supports your assignment.
- Make a list of groups of people indirectly affected by the
actions discussed in the case. These groups do not have
to be mentioned in the article. For each group in this list, tell why
they are affected.
- Write a 1 paragraph "group position" that summarizes the
opinions of your group on the actions discussed.
- This paragraph should be a group writing activity.
- Appoint a scribe to write things down.
- Everyone should suggest refinements to the written text
that makes it clear and convincing.
- Several drafts may be needed.
- About 100 words is enough.
Use the techniques we learned from "They Say, I say" to guide
your writing. You must defend
this position to the rest of the class.
