I tried installing the maintenance supplement on one of my Solaris machines that had higher revs of the "recommended" patches already installed. My machine choked and refused to play nice until I did a complete OS re-install. I do not believe this was a result of having some of the patches installed at a higher level, but I never ruled out that possibility. It was a 4/110 I was trying it out on, rather than risking my Sparc 10, so I suspect one or more of the patches just wasn't _that_ compatible. I have no proof though, as I've taken that machine back to 4.1.1 where it was happy. As a result of this experience I won't use the maintenance supplement at all. I'll just grab patches as I realize I need them...then go to 2.4 and start all over ;->.
