The following figure shows a sample selection mode
screen. This is what you will see whenever you enter a
newsgroup. Note the following information:
-
The newsgroup name is in the top left corner: `rec.arts.startrek.current'.
-
The number of articles is in the top right corner.
There are 111 unread articles in this newsgroup. We have a total of 9243
unread articles in 166 newsgroups.
-
Each article has four elements associated with it:
-
An article id. This is a letter or digit in the left column.
-
The author of the article.
-
The number of lines in the article.
-
The subject of the article. If there are one or more greater
than signs (`>') before the subject then that article is a reply to
someone's posting. A hyphen (`-') indicates that the subject is
identical to the subject of the previous article.
-
The bottom line displays some useful information. The 'Top 16%'
indicates that there are further pages from which to select articles.

pressing the appropriate article id key.
There are several ways to do this:
-
If you wish to select a particular article, press the key matching
the article id letter.

If you wish to select an article and all of its replies, first press
the article id key for the base posting, and then press *
to select all associated replies.
