Omega Rho International Honor Society for operations research, management science, and related areas was founded in the spring of 1976 at a joint national meeting of the Operations Research Society of America and The Institute of Management Sciences and is a Member Society of the Association of College Honor Societies for maintaining high standards for the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in higher education. Membership is prestigious with only approximately 5,100 student and faculty inductees qualified at 37 chapters.

Omega Rho Portland State University Chapter is an international honor society, which recognizes outstanding scholars and leaders in Operations Research, Management Sciences and related disciplines. The Portland State University Chapter has been established in the Department of Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) since April 1995, and inducted over 100 individuals who have educational excellence, superior scholarship and leadership.
