The Student Award judging is complete. The judging committee has chosen:

The Student Award competition for AEWG-46 is closed.  No further entries will be accepted.

The AEWG is pleased to announce that a Student Award competition be in place for the AEWG-46.

EligibilityAny current or recent university or college student 

Submission Entry:  an extended abstract up to 3 pages in length (including all text, tables and figures). These should be designated as submitted for the Student Award. 

Submission to: Technical Program Chair or Joni Bauman 

Entries for the Student Award will be distributed to a committee to judge the winner.

Submission Deadline for Extended Abstracts for Student Award: May 4, 2003

Notification of Student Award Winner:  June 4, 2003

Details of AEWG Student Award

As discussed at AEWG-45 Business Meeting. Subject to Revision.

Any current or recent university or college student may submit a three-page extended abstract to be considered for the Student Award. Extended abstracts for Student Award consideration should be submitted to the AEWG Meeting Program Chair and have an indication that it is being submitted for the Student Award. All extended abstracts submitted for the Student Award shall be reviewed by a three member committee appointed by the Executive Committee and may be the Executive Committee. Student Award entries shall be submitted at least 90 days prior to the meeting; notification of acceptance to the winning student shall be made to the student at least 60 days prior to the meeting. The winner shall receive $1500 out of which he/she will be required to pay his/her travel expenses and registration fee; the remainder to be kept by the recipient. Only one Student Award shall be given at any one meeting.

note:  there is an implied intent for requiring the student to pay travel expenses and registration fee out of the award amount:  the winner must attend the meeting and make his/her presentation to receive the award.
