Me & My Life

...The bare essentials...

Date of birth:

February 21, 1970

Nationality: Italian
Education:

Graduate student in Computer Science at Portland State University (Portland, OR), Dept. of Computer Science

Qualifying examination for the profession of Engineer passed in the first session of year 2002 at University of Pisa.

5-year "Laurea" in Nuclear Engineering - Innovative nuclear systems at University of Pisa (Italy) on December 12th, 2001 with an overall grade of 105 from 110.

Frequently heard comment & reply:

-"Uh, so... You're a nuclear engineer..."

Yes, I am a "nukee". I have spent some time hanging out around some nuclear reactors, yet I don't have green hair, nor do I glow in the dark. I know another nukee who seems to be tired of jokes on the color of his hair: meet my friend Darren Bleuel, author of the "Nukees" strip...

...And something more!

This part is not actually "designed". My intention is just to add some free thoughts about what I believe is important in my life... However...

Note: If you are interested in my professional activity, this is the wrong place: go to the Work & Research page. My interests have their own page too.

Something important about Life:

Porto Venere - HappinessFirst things first: I've been in love with Francesca since 1989... and eventually got married to her on June 1st, 2003!

Yeah: 14 years of engagement - And people dare talk about commitment...

We've spent together a huge part of our lives and a couple of boys joined us along the way, rescued from the street thanks to my lady's great heart: you can see Romeo on my desk in the Work & Research page. I'll add a picture of Giotto somewhere, some day...

La Spezia:

Porto VenereLa Spezia, our home town, is a city located by the sea in the north of Italy. The place itself is nothing special, but small and quiet (at least until some years ago). Some charming little villages (le Cinque Terre, Lerici and Porto Venere, where this shot  was taken) are certainly more famous among tourists, and the borderline with Tuscany is just half an hour away. You should certainly find the time to have a look at these places, if you are traveling in the surroundings - which might be the case: La Spezia is a rather important starting point for tourism directed to all western-Italy maritime resorts. Expect beauty if you visit those places, but not too much courtesy from people... I am sorry, but my people are just like that.

Pisa:

Pisa - The duomo We lived 12 years in Pisa (the city of the leaning tower, in Tuscany, Italy), before going back to our home town (La Spezia, Italy) for three years and then moving (all four of us!) to Portland, Oregon (USA).

Pisa is another place worth visiting. I find there is a lot of beauty scattered around, if you appreciate details (besides "Piazza dei Miracoli", which is still a breathtaking view to me, especially at dusk). Like any other Italian city, it has lost something of its "true taste" in the last 10 years or so, but if you appreciate the charm of the glorious remains of centuries of history...

Oh, well... Enough for now. Stop by now and then and I might have added something else... Thanks for visiting!
