I received my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (December 2015) from the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (MCECS - Portland State University, ), and presently work as Research Associate at the Northwest Electromagnetics and Acoustics Research Laboratory (NEAR Lab).

I became a member of the Underwater Acoustics group of the NEAR Lab in 2009, working with Prof. Martin Siderius, and received my MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2014. My research focuses on underwater-acoustics modeling and simulation, and physics based signal-processing algorithms, with applications in seafloor remote sensing/survey, and environmental-impact studies. I participated in the GLASS-13 and REP14-MED experiments in collaboration with the NATO-STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE, La Spezia, Italy), where I spent the Summer terms of 2013 and 2014 as a Research Fellow applying my research to sensor arrays mounted on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). I also participated in the Santa Barbara Channel Experiment 2016  (SBCEx16), organized by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography of the University of California – San Diego.

I joined the MCECS Department of Computer Science in 2004, where I worked in artificial intelligence with Prof. Melanie Mitchell. My MS thesis pertained to the modeling of analogical reasoning in visual pattern-recognition problems.

I received my Laurea in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Pisa (Pisa, Italy). My thesis and subsequent work as a research fellow at the University of Pisa dealt with the modeling of radiation transport in patient tissues for treatment planning in Boron Neutron-Capture Therapy (BNCT), as well as the preliminary design of neutron sources for BNCT.
