------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Readme.pc: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This directory contains precompiled executables for Hugs 1.3c for PC and Windows based machines. This distribution does NOT include source code for the interpreter, and only includes the winhelp version of the user documentation; other formats are available from the main Hugs distribution. Installation: c: change to C: drive cd \ change to root directory mkdir Hugs make a new Hugs directory cd Hugs move into the Hugs directory unzip hugspc.zip unzip the distribution There are three different versions of Hugs 1.3c in this package. o For DOS, move the "hugs.exe" executable to a suitable place on your PATH, set the HUGSPATH and HUGSEDIT variables as described in the user manual. Delete any .DLL and .EXE files that you do not need. This version of Hugs has been compiled using DJGPP version 2 and requires a DPMI server; this will be provided automatically if you run Hugs in a Windows DOS box. If you want to run Hugs 1.3c in a plain DOS environment, then you should take a copy of "csdpmi2b.zip", unzip it, and put a copy of CWSDPMI.EXE in the same directory as the main HUGS.EXE file. o For Windows 3.x, move the "hugs16.exe" file to a suitable location on your path, or (better) put a pointer to it in a suitable program manager group. Copy "hugs.ini" into the \WINDOWS directory, editing it first to take account of any changes that are necessary. If you do not already have it installed, you may need to put a copy of the CTL3DV2.DLL into \WINDOWS\SYSTEM, or into the same directory as the hugs16.exe file. Delete any .DLL and .EXE files that you do not need. o For Win 32 (Windows 95, Win32s, or Windows NT), move the "hugs32.exe" file to a suitable location on your path, or (better) put a shortcut to it on the start menu/on the desktop/in a suitable program manager group, as appropriate for your system. Copy "hugs.ini" into the \WINDOWS directory, editing it first to take account of any changes that are necessary. If you do not already have it installed, you may need to put a copy of the CTL3D32.DLL and CW3215.DLL files into \WINDOWS\SYSTEM. Do not leave a copy of CTL3D32.DLL in the same directory as hugs.exe because this can cause problems at runtime. Delete any .DLL and .EXE files that you do not need. The Windows versions of Hugs 1.3c are based around a user interface that was originally developed by Jos‚ Enrique Gallardo Ruiz. The source code for these versions of Hugs is now included in the main distribution. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
