Can I obtain a Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant position
in the first quarter that I arrive at PSU?
ANSWER.
Definitely no.
You can not obtain it in the first quarter. You can obtain it in your second quarter here,
on a competitive basis. There are exceptions.
Question 2.
Can I obtain a summer intern position in industry? ANSWER.
Yes, not earlier than after one year of being here.
Question 3.
Can I work on PSU campus? ANSWER.
Yes, there are many positions, especially for people familiar with computers.
Question 4.
Can I come to you to discuss my qualifications? ANSWER.
Yes, remember to bring all your grade transcripts, letters of reference,
work information, etc. Read graduate bulletin first.
You can obtain it from EE Office, talk to Shirley, Laura or Ellen.
Question 5.
How can I learn more about your admission process? ANSWER.
There are three bulletins. (1) Bulletin of PSU.
(2) Bulletin of School of Applied Science and Engineering at PSU.
(3) Graduate Bulletin of our Department.
Question 6.
I have a M.S. in Biology (Physics, Computer Science, etc), can you admitt me? ANSWER.
Yes, but you will be admitted conditionally, you will have to take some
undergraduate EE credits. Look to the Graduate Bulletin of our Department.

Question 7.
How can I select a Graduate Advisor? I do not know these professors,
I am a foreign student and I am shy.
ANSWER.
Read the Grad. Bulletin. It has plenty information about
all professors, their areas of research and teaching, classes they teach,
and even their publications.
When you will find one or two that you are interested to collaborate with,
just make an appointment and talk to him/her. Our professors are really friendly,
even when busy. You do not need my help in making such appointment.
Question 8.
I nearly graduated from PSU in 1978. I had all coursework but no Thesis.
Can I use these old credits for graduation?
ANSWER.
No. Read the Grad. Bulletin for information about courses that can be transferred
from other Universities, and which our old classes still count.
Question 9.
I work all days. Can I come to see you in the evening.
ANSWER.
Yes. Call me for appointment. Two times a week I teach OCATE classes in Aloha Capitol Center.
It may be more convenient for you to meet me before or after class there.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays I am available after 9:40 p.m.
Question 10.
I called you several times and left you several messages.
You told me few times, that you cannot transfer my graduate
credits from Stanford. Are you sure? Please call me back.
ANSWER.
Yes, I am sure. Old credits cannot be taken into account.
However, when addmitted to PSU and with the support of your supervisor,
you will be able to transfer some credits from other Universities,
if they are not too old. You will need the help of your supervisor.
If you are not sure that my answer is correct, consult the PSU catalog
to find the definite answer and save my time.
