Project Description

Have you ever wondered what a dog would act  like on the surface of the moon?  Perhaps not, but for those inquisitive minds out there, we have an answer.  The Lunar Dog Project was created as an outreach program for elementary kids designed to spark their interest in math and science.  Due to a generous grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the culmination of efforts by Portland State University and Saturday Academy's Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE), the Lunar Dog Project is on the verge of completion.  Due to budget constraints, it is not possible to send a dog to the moon at this point.  Luckily, the effects of a low-gravity environment can be reproduced on Earth with the help of helium balloons.
