Welcome to the 2008 Portland State University SEED team’s homepage! We are a group of four senior mechanical engineers recently selected to participate in NASA’s Microgravity University program. This program satisfies our senior capstone requirements as well as personal goals. Our submitted proposal was accepted in early December 2007. We have just completed our zero gravity parabolic flights during the week of April 3– April 12 to conduct our research. We captured data on NASA’s DC-9 “Weightless Wonder” aircraft regarding the properties of fluid coalescence in reduced gravity environments. Our analysis and data support research for the International Space Station and other future extraterrestrial endeavors. During the spring we will be conducting a comprehensive outreach program in order to share our experience and inspire young students to achieve a career in science and engineering. |
