Final Topics
This page lists the topics that
may be included on the final.
Logistics
- Please turn off your cell phones
and pagers during the exam.
- You are allowed two double-sided
pages of notes or four single-sided pages of notes.
- You are allowed to use a calculator.
- Count the number of pages to
make sure you have all of them.
- Write your student ID at the
top of each sheet. You will lose points this time if you do not
do this.

Old Topics
The final is comprehensive. For
a list of the topics covered previous to Exam 2 please refer to
the pages describing the Exam 1 topics
and Exam 2 topics.
New Topics
- Latches & Flip Flops
You should know the latches
and flip flops that we discussed in class thoroughly. You should
know the symbol, truth table, and be able to generate a timing
diagram for each of these devices.
- Counters
You should be familiar
with ripple counters and synchronous counters and know the problems
and benefits of using each.
- Registers
You should know the 4
types of registers, what they do, how they are constructed, and
how they work.
- MSI Devices
You should be able to
read and understand a data sheet for an MSI device such as the
ones dicsussed in class. From the data sheet you should be able
to understand what the device does and what the various features
are for the device.
