The Portland Chess Club needs a new website. The purpose of the club is to promote chess in the area. We have an existing web site http://www.aboutchess.org which is outdated and very hard to update/manage. We would like the website to have the basics of what it currently has plus some improved features. The most important is to have a calander function which looks and acts like a calander. This is where we list all of our events the club is planning, the events are planned out a year in advance. It needs to be easy for us to add events to the calander. Clear documentation is needed. The calander might be seen in different formats, the entire month or just one week, possibly even just 1 day, maybe even the entire year. Because the space available is rather small in a calander, a person would only see a brief description of the event, they could then click on the "Brief Description" to get all of the information on the event. A new feature we would like to add is: need a program which will send out automatic reminders to club members when their membership needs to be renewed. The reminder would be an email to the member when we have their email address, or an email to the treasurer when we do not have an email address.
