• Minor Differences
– You cannot define the same named variable in different
– inner vs. outer blocks (unlike C++ allows identifiers in
an inner block to hide those in an outer scope
– Primitive types in Java are guaranteed to have an initial
value (i.e., not garbage!)
– Java determines the size of each primitive type (they
don’t change from one machine architecture to another –
unlike C and C++)
– All numeric types are signed – they do not support the
unsigned type.
– No semicolon is required at the end of a class definition
