Remember: Baritones have feelings, too.

For seven fantastic years, I have had the privilege of being a regular member of the Portland Opera Chorus. I've switched between singing baritone and tenor for those years.

2001-2002 Season:
- La Traviata
- The Pearl Fishers
- Verdi Requiem: I don't have any photos from this concert, but it was recorded and broadcast on PBS. This performance was an emotional experience for all involved, since it was a tribute to a performance of the requiem under the baton of Rafael Schaechter in 1944... in the Terezin concentration camp. The performance was interspersed with interviews with survivors of the camp who actually knew Schaechter.

2002-2003 Season:
- Il Trovatore
- Elixir of Love
- Tales of Hoffman: This show wins the award for "best costume". Yes, that's me on the right. Yes, that's actually my costume. It took 20 minutes just to take the tattoo off each night.
- A View from the Bridge: During the run of this show, we had the opportunity to meet the composer, William Bolcom. After Chicago Lyric and the Met, we were the third company to ever perform this show, and with several of the original cast members.
2003-2004 Season:
2004-2005 Season:
- Viaggio a Reims
- Street Scene: That's not a prop on stage - I'm really on crutches. I was initially stated to play one of the policemen in the show as my first bit part, but half-way through staging, I ruptured my Achilles tendon during a rehearsal. Three months on crutches is good fun, I tell you. To the great credit of stage management and the directors, they still found a way for me to stay in the show.
2005-2006 Season:
- Tosca: The chorus has exactly two short singing parts in Tosca... and one of them is off stage. Actually, there is a third short bit, but only for the upper three parts, and I was a baritone at this point. So, we all got into costume/makeup/wigs for about 90 seconds of on-stage time. That's enough to drive a chorister batty (hence the photo at the top, and me in the back ruining it).
