study questions - set 3

1. assume you have a ruler that for some reason measures 1-100 in terms of
units.  You measure
something and get 53.  What exactly is the possible margin of error?  Note
that you only
have 1, 2, ... 52, 53, 54 ... 100  as units on said ruler.

2. If you have 100 ticks per second -- how many ms per tick?  Given #1, what
is the margin of error in this case?

3. given #2, can you measure 1 add instruction.

4. heuristically given 100 ticks per second how could you construct an
experiment that
MIGHT let you measure the speed of events <= the answer in 2?  (hmmm...
someone
in the class knows the answer to that).  If you don't for some reason know
what "heuristic"
means look it up.
