July 10th, 1999 Quakefest
Things are getting a little bit better. The previous two Quakefests were about 6 months apart. This 'fest and the one before it were only 2 months apart. Ironically, both fell on the 10th of the month. Not to talk trash, but this 'fest just wasn't that good.

It started right from the start. Josh didn't come to this 'fest, and he always brings the big table that we use in my living room. No Josh means no table. People started arriving and setting stuff up on the floor. So, I took up a collection and went to Costco and bought the last table that they had in stock. It was a good thing to do anyway. Now Josh and Greg don't have to go through the hassle of bringing that big ass table to every 'fest.

That wasn't the end of troubles, not by any stretch of the imagination. As things were getting going I was telling someone on the phone how the previous 'fest had been 100% without hardware problems. The person on the other end, who shall remain safely annonymous, said, "I guess you're about due for some problems, then." AHHHHH! We were jinxed! Dmitri had problem, of what nature I'm not sure. Alex had to try four different network cards before he could find one that worked with his new PC. It was just a big mess. There was also some minor bickering that went on, but I won't go there...
Keep in mind that these pictures are in no specific order. I'm almost 100% sure that they're not in proper chronological order. Anyway, here you can see (from left to right) Alex, Chris, Carl, Jammie (pretty much just her nose and forehead), and Nate. Nate! Dude! Where did your hair go?
Eventaully Nate moved into the den to use the 17" monitor hooked up to my dad's PC. In the mean time, he was stuck at the crowded dining room table. I don't seem to remember having such crowding issues at this table at my old apartment. We used to be able to get four people at the table. Of course, that was before everyone got 17" and 19" monitors. Heh...everyone needs to get either an LCD flat-screen or a laptop. :)
She might have a Zukka Juice, but I don't think Jammie is really all that excited about being at the Quakefest. Heh...I guess fair is fair! Now the women know how the men feel when we get dragged off to the mall...
Surprise! I somehow don't think that Kellie was expecting her picture to be taken. In this shot we have (again, from left to right) Kellie, Rose's friend Mary, and Eric. This is the first of several pictures of Mary, but none show her face...wierd...
Yup, some dork in a Stargate t-shirt, Dmitri, and Greg. Damn, who is that dork? Oh, wait...never mind....
Mary spent sooooo much time in front of Rose's PC, but she never played a single bit of Quake. What's up with that?
I think that's my head in the bottom left. It was a really, really nice day outside. Fortunately, it wasn't too hot. Otherwise, with all those people and PCs, we would have fried inside.
Ok, this time I think Kellie was ready to have her picture taken. Smile nice and pretty for the camera, now.
On the far left we have Greg, quite probably fragging someone. On the far right we have Nate, quite probably making fun of Greg. In the background I think we have Mary (Is that her face?!? In a picture?!? Wow!) and Eric. It's really dark, so I can't quite tell.
From front to back: Carl, Chris, and Alex. I think this was pretty early in the day because they were all still there. They did their usual trick of leaving right when things were starting to get good.
Damn! Why does Angie always look so happy when she's at a Quakefest? I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the Arby's bag next to her. The seating at this Quakefest was pretty shaft-like. Notice that table leg off to the right? That's our living room table pushed up against the fireplace. That's where Dmitri had to set his PC up. No wonder he left early...
The required profile shot of the dining room table. You will notice that things are a little bit different from previous Quakefests. How? Well, that's Eric's PC at the far end, and Josh was absent. So now you know.
As should be obvious, Alex's sister got all the brains in the family. I mean, for Christ sake, he's wearing a Dukes of Hazard shirt! And I thought that guy in the Stargate t-shirt was a geek... :)
Here's what I say to you and your stinking Quakefest! So there! (Like I said, dork in a Stargate t-shirt.)
