Biography of Edward Kaiser Edward Kaiser was born on November 7, 1979 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from the University of Waterloo (Canada) in 2003 with a BASc degree in Computer Engineering, Honours Co-op. As part of the co-operative program at the University of Waterloo, Edward has interned at several start-up companies and academic research labs specializing in robotics and mobile networking applications. In the Fall of 2003 he enrolled in the PhD program in Computer Science at the OGI School of Science and Engineering but moved along with his advisors; Wu-chang Feng and Wu-chi Feng, to Portland State University in the Fall of 2004. He has taken strong interest and active role in the PuzzleNet (Proof-of-Work) research project and has contributed to developing various Linux implementations, in addition to authoring publications. Edward's general research interests lie within network security and distributed systems. His long term research goals include developing client-puzzles which provide reusable computation, as well as creating a management system capable of utilizing client-puzzles to meet network goals defined by system administrators.
