README for chordtraining =================================================== version 1.3 Chordtraining is a standalone Max/MSP app for eartraining with chords. Practice triads or sevenths in any inversion and in open or closed position. Hear the chord at once or by arpeggiation. Set the register and the root. Check your guess against the status window. Use hotkeys to quickly shift between modes and subsets of all permutations. Choose the duration and volume of playback and the type of synthesizer. * Chord choices include: any triad, any seventh, any inversion, random selection of all chords or chord subsets. * Voicing options include: closed, open (two octave spread), or random (each note in any register above base). * Chords may be arpeggiated or played as a block. Delay controls time between arpeggiated notes. * MIDI out is simultaneous to both local quicktime engine and any configured MIDI device. Use "QT instrument" or "MIDI channel" to select audio patch for playback. * Use pull down menus or QWERTY keys (in brackets) to interact with main interface. Eg: Change chord with 'q', play chord with 'r'. * Increment up/down through list of chord types using [./] keys. * Base center and range indicate the lowest note of the voiced chord. The actual note is randomly chosen within the indicated range of chromatic steps above and below the given center. Eg: Range of zero always uses the center value as the base. * Use mouse or "quertyoct" object (open by default) to choose the base center. * Duration is number of milliseconds the chord is sustained. Default is 1/4 second. Velocity is volume. * Subpatches contain additional options.
