Screen lovers kiss, exchange
Silver sighs, breathless vows, scripted fate,
The movie ends, the lights rise
Story over, the day returns

What happens to lovers?
Screen lovers end in the final reel
But the days give witness 
Let longer loves answer

From the Champaign porch swing 
A young man and woman tell, laugh, sing;
Today we see them wave

Each day a threshold crossed

Each morning married wakes
