One of the objectives of the BMN Lab is to serve as a knowledge resource for the local
communities. In order to meet this objective we employ a "hands-on" approach to
disseminate as well as interest the local community in areas of micro and
nanotechnology. BMNL participates in a number of programs for school students
belonging to various grades.
|
BMNL has developed interactive demos as well as presentations to demonstrate the practical
applications of miniaturization technologies to our daily lives. A teaching and learning
strategy has been developed to integrate educative programs with meaningful community service.
Our Outreach Program package includes lab tours, exciting live demonstrations of ongoing
experiments in the lab and educational talks offered by experienced lab personnel. The mode of
teaching is such that information delivery conforms to that of classroom
learning to make certain students understand the subject matter.
|
Lab tours include exposing students to invaluable equipment used for research in the
field of NanoBiotechnology with the help of a well knit web of understanding between
various departments within the university.
BMNL has provided its services to several teams of the First LegoLeague Robotics
competition, Oregon MESA and SEMI/IDT student group. Members of the lab have also
visited schools at Portland and Hillsboro as a part of this Nanotechnology
guidance effort.
