Students: Bart Massey
Attached is a sample of the students Bart is working with
currently at Portland State. Undoubtedly, someone crucial
has been missed.
Doctoral Students
- CS Ph.D. student Robert Bauer is Jim Hook's student,
but has been a close collaborator, colleague, and friend of Bart's
for many years. He is working on formal models of program
memory and concurrent execution, and expects to graduate in
the 2008 timeframe.
- CS Ph.D. student (jointly with Su Hui Chiang) Sangsuree
Vasupongayya is currently working on search algorithms
for declarative supercomputer scheduling. She expects her
degree in the 2007 time-frame.
- Mathematics Ph.D. student (jointly with Gerardo Laferriere)
Anca Williams is working on control theory and
applications. She expects her degree sometime in 2006.
Masters Students
- CS M.S. Student David Allen is working on a principled
simulator for amateur sounding rockets. He expects to
defend his thesis sometime mid-2006 and graduate thereafter.
- CS M.S. student Gursharn Khatra is working on machine
learning for classification of mass spectrometry data. He
expects to defend his thesis fourth quarter 2005 and to
graduate first quarter 2006.
- CS M.S. student Mark Heller defended
his thesis on virtual world ontology development in 2005.
He expects his degree first quarter 2006.
Undergraduate Students
- CS Undergraduate student Jamey Sharp has been a
long-running collaborator of Bart's on a huge variety of
projects. He expects to graduate first quarter 2006.
- CS Undergraduate Mick Thomure has worked with Bart on
projects in machine learning and web infrastructure. He
expects to graduate fourth quarter 2005.
- CS Undergraduates Emma Kuo and James LaMar have worked with Bart on
the MINT parser generator for the Nickle programming language. They
expect to graduate fourth quarter 2005.
