Welcome to Locale S3. Presented by Michelle Jaffe, Phil Edelstein and David Reeder. This installation presents sound compositions that are unlocked by technology in the headset you are now wearing. The headset is capable of carefully tracking your position. As you walk through the room, you encounter virtual shapes which trigger layers of sound as you travel. Locale S3 is not just a single composition, but three works presented by each of the three artists. Some of which fill multiple rooms. Of course, we have only a single physical room, the homeroom, in which you are now standing. In order to hear the work of each artist, step into the portal that leads to their composition. If you wish to have a visual clue, see the maps on walls in the portals. The portals are represented as orange rectangles. Portals take you from the homeroom to each artist, and then back again to the homeroom if you wish to hear the work of another artist. Although the maps are fun to look at, we encourage you to guide yourself with your ears only. As you approach a portal, you will hear a chime that indicates you will soon move to a different virtual room if you continue forward. Finally, how do you get there? There are three portals exiting the homeroom. Please face the long wall with the fireplaces. The portals are to the left and right of each fireplace. In order... * The portal to Phil Edelstein is left of the first fireplace. * The portal to Michelle Jaffe is right of the first fireplace. * The portal to David Reeder is left of the second fireplace. * Lastly, to the right of the second fireplace is a portal that provides a return to the Homeroom from all of the compositions. Remember the composition of each artist has portals that lead back to the homeroom, so you can enter and exit the work of each artist as you like. If you have any questions, please ask the host from whom you received your headset. Thank you for listening. We hope you enjoy Locale S3.
