| Sunday evening a group of us went to Taverna Captain Uncino recommended by the local arrangement chair. If I understand correctly the name translates to Captain Hook's Tavern! Monday night was the VMCAI banquet. It was held at Taverna La Fenice. I didn't photograph any of the food, although I did take some people shots (see VMCAI people). The food was fine, but not the most memorable part of the evening. Tuesday evening I slept through dinner, but Dave and Linda highly recommended the restaurant at which they had dinned: Wednesday evening: Trattoria da "Arturo" The menu did not include any seafood, which was a disappointment to me as I have eaten almost exclusively seafood on this trip. We shared salad and past courses. The second course dishes below include pork chops, veal, and various versions of steak. I had the tall rare steak with pepper corns.
Thursday evening (the banquet):
Friday evening: Dinner with Erik, Lilian, Wouter, and ??? at the Taverna San Travaso. This Taverna was highly recommended by my brother Tom, who is a cruise director on Sea Cloud. The meal certainly lived up to the recommendation! Lilian started with a pesto pasta, I started with fish soup, and Wouter began with vegetable soup. Lilian took this picture of me with my first course Lilian's second course was Monkfish, Erik's was ???. My second course was Cuttlefish (squid) in its own ink Venitian style (with polenta). This was my brother's recommendation. It was excellent! We finished with desert. I had a Tiramisu. Wouter had ice cream, which was presented beautifully. I seem to have forgotten to photograph the deserts. After dinner we all enjoyed some Grappa.
