HW#1 – Due April 7 (there is nothing to turn in for this first HW)

·        Brush up on your Solid Works skills

·        Carefully read Section 1.1 to Section 1.4 of the text (only 8 pages)

HW#2 – Due April 14 (submit as a pdf file to Canvas)     Solutions

·        Carefully read the rest of Chapter 1

·        Do Problems #3 from Chapter-1 (use the model below)

o   Model:        Shaft          

o   Remember, it is the process of dimensioning that is important

§  Start with view that shows most of the features

§  Do not use other views until it is necessary (if a feature cannot be fully described on existing view(s) then create another view

§  Dimension the part one feature at a time

§  Do not reference features not dimensioned yet (imagine that they do not exist yet)

§  Show important dimensions directly

§  Use Google to see how common standard features are dimensioned like keyways, chamfers, fastener holes, etc.
